1 pizza dough (homemade or store bought)
24 slices pepperoni
24 1x1x1/4 inch pieces of mozzarella sticks (string cheese)
oil for frying
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 cup pizza sauce
Roll out the pizza dough into a 12x8" rectangle and cut into 24 2x2" squares. Top with mozzarella cheese pieces and wrap them up sealing tightly.
Fry them in oil in a pan over medium high heat until golden brown.
In a small bowl combine parmesan cheese, italian seasoning, garlic powder and salt and pepper. Sprinkle over the fried pizza poppers once they come out of the oil. Dip in your favorite pizza sauce and enjoy!
If you don't want to fry the poppers; preheat your oven to 400 degrees and place the poppers seam side down onto a greased baking sheet. Brush with oil or butter, sprinkle with parmesan cheese mixture and bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
